Join us for a ribbon cutting as we celebrate the Historical Harrington Schoolhouse. The Harrington Schoolhouse was built in 1925 and is the last African American School on St. Simons Island. Support and fundraising from the Friends of Harrington School and the St. Simons African American Heritage Coalition helped the conservation and restoration of the schoolhouse. The school serves as a cultural and educational center in the community including historic preservation of the Gullah Geechee culture, and African American tourism destination and a community event and meeting place.
